We coordinate all customs formalities, filings, regulatory requirements, and clearances on your behalf, ensuring a smooth, compliant process with one dedicated team handling your shipment from start to finish.

How does import clearance at JNPT work?

An import at JNPT moves from vessel arrival to delivery in a set order. Filing documents before the vessel arrives is the biggest time saver.

  1. Before arrival: we check the invoice, packing list, HS code and licences, and prepare the Bill of Entry.
  2. Vessel arrival: the shipping line files the Import General Manifest (IGM) and the container moves to the terminal or CFS.
  3. Filing and assessment: the Bill of Entry is filed on ICEGATE and customs assesses it.
  4. Duty payment: you pay customs duty and GST online.
  5. Examination, if selected: the container is examined at the CFS; we attend and coordinate.
  6. Out of charge: customs releases the cargo.
  7. Delivery order and release: we collect the delivery order from the shipping line and arrange transport to your door.

How does export clearance at JNPT work?

For exports, the Shipping Bill is filed, the cargo is stuffed and sealed, customs gives the "Let Export" order and the container is loaded.

  1. Shipping Bill preparation with your invoice, packing list and other documents
  2. Factory stuffing with self-sealing, or stuffing at a CFS
  3. Customs "Let Export" order and gate-in at the terminal
  4. Loading on the vessel and Bill of Lading release
  5. Duty drawback and export incentive follow-up

How can you avoid demurrage and detention at JNPT?

Demurrage and detention are charged when a container stays too long at the port or outside it. Most of it can be avoided with early paperwork.

  • Send documents before the vessel arrives so the Bill of Entry can be filed early
  • Check the HS code and licence requirements in advance
  • Arrange duty funds before assessment
  • Plan transport before out of charge
  • Return empty containers on time
